Wedding Photography at the Historic Rice Mill Building

The Historic Rice Mill is one of those Charleston venues we know by heart.

We’ve photographed a lot of weddings here over the years—sunny ones, rainy ones, ceremonies facing the marina, packed dance floors, tiny dinners, big parties, and plenty of nights when we’ve wandered outside with a couple because it has the best sunset spot in all of downtown Charleston.

The building gives you a little bit of everything. Old brick, huge windows, wood floors and pressed-tin ceilings inside; courtyards and live oaks outside; then the marina, docks and Charleston Harbor just beyond it all. The party gets segmented a bit, which I enjoy, because it gives the different people in your day different places to be. The ones who want to dance can hang out in bar area, and the people who want to talk and smoke cigars get to go out and lounge looking out over the Ashley River.

It’s everything I love about Charleston Weddings, and people who get married here are in my experience, just so great to work with.
