The Admiral’s House Wedding Photography

At North Charleston Riverfront Park

The Admiral’s House is one of those Charleston wedding venues that somehow still feels a little under the radar.

Tucked into the old Charleston Naval Base beside Riverfront Park, it has a lot of what people are usually hunting for farther out of town: a historic house, enormous live oaks, Spanish moss, broad porches, brick paths and enough lawn to throw a real outdoor wedding. But it’s right here in North Charleston.

That’s probably its biggest surprise. You can get ready inside the house, get married beneath the trees, and turn the lawn into a full reception under string lights without spending the day moving everybody from place to place.

For photography, it’s a particularly good find. The house and porches give us bright, classic Charleston architecture during the day, while the oak grove and grounds become something completely different as the sun drops and the lights come on.

It’s not one of the Charleston venues everybody already knows by name—which may be part of why I like it so much.
